Offer and Exchange
A different kind of artwork sales policy.
Core Principles
Art for all
My artwork is rooted in human connection; the emotional and narrative exchanges that happen when we come together. It is my hope that, when you see my art, there will be an emotional reaction. I never want money to be a barrier to someone taking my art home to experience that feeling again and again. Therefore there are no price tags on my work.
Offer and/or Exchange
'Offer' is the simplest way I can phrase what is basically a 'pay what you decide' system of sales. If you see something you really LOVE and want to own that piece, make me an offer. It's that simple. It could be a flat price or payments over a longer period of months.
'Exchange' is a little more complex. Our wealth is not only found in how much money we have. It is found in our stories, our learning and knowledge. A person can be very wealthy indeed in these things and have more to offer me than simple cash. This is wealth I cannot buy. I want to expand how we talk about wealth and invite you to think outside the box. Do you have something to teach me? A new skill perhaps or artform? Do you have a stack of books I might be interested in (I bloody love books!)? Do you have a bag of fabric scraps I could use to make more art with? All of these things can be exchanged for my work, or through a combination of offer and exchange.
Art of connection
The only condition I place on this system is that you are able to communicate to me why you want my work. I would rather sell my work to someone who really feels a connection to it, than to someone who doesn't. In order to buy my work, all you need to do is contact me with your why and your offer and/or exchange. Then I decide whether to accept and I will never share your offer with anyone else.
Framing and Delivery
The only things I will put an additional charge for is framing and delivery, which are optional if collection is not possible for you. A lot of my work is unframed with raw textile edges and can be posted very easily. If you would like a piece framing and/or posting, I can arrange this and would pass on any costs to you as part of the sale.
