About Harriet Mee

I am a socially engaged artist based in Teesside, working across textiles, painting, poetry and public art. My work explores women’s stories, creative labour and belonging through stitch, fabric and words. From large-scale murals to intimate embroidery, I use layered materials and language to honour women’s voices and everyday strength.

My current practice centres on circles of making: communal spaces where creativity becomes connection. Through sewing, conversation and collaboration, I explore how art can foster healing, feminist care and shared agency. Working with women’s organisations across the North, I create projects that blend personal narrative with social practice, reclaiming women’s work as both art and activism.
